Evangelical teacher who espouses abhorrent biblical views is banned indefinitely from classrooms

JOSHUA Sutcliffe, above, who believes that homosexuality and Islam are “abominations” and that people who sin should be put to death, has been banned from teaching.

Labelled “intolerant” by the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA), the bigoted street preacher was this week found guilty of unprofessional conduct and banned from teaching in any capacity indefinitely.

The case against Sutcliffe, backed by the Department for Education, hinged on his refusal to use the preferred pronouns of a female student who identified as transgender when he was teaching math at the Cherwell School in Oxford in 2017.

However, the TRA also took into account Sutcliffe’s views regarding gay marriage and “masculinity”.

Regarding the latter, he was convicted of failing to provide an alternative viewpoint to students when he allegedly showed a PragerU video called “Make Men Masculine Again“.

However, the allegation that Sutcliffe had recommended a video to pupils which said “Muhammed is a false prophet” was dismissed by the panel as it had not been uploaded to Sutcliffe’s personal YouTube channel while he was later working at another school, St Aloysius school.

In this 2020 video he blames the “LGBT mafia” and the “Islamic Mafia” for getting him kicked out of both schools.

Concluding their judgment, the panel described Sutcliffe as “intolerant” and said that taken as a whole it was:

Satisfied that Mr. Sutcliffe was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.

Sutcliffe “distasteful views” about homosexuality, Islam and the death penalty for sin were aired in a video posted to YouTube yesterday (Tuesday), and has, to date, almost 136,000 views.

The Case represents yet another loss for the Christian Legal Centre

The CLC quoted the fundamentalist numpty as saying:

I am devastated by the panel’s ruling and will appeal. Based on this ruling, every teacher is at risk if they share their beliefs and views in the classroom. If a teacher had shown or recommended a video from a liberal YouTube platform, would they have been treated as I have?

I believe affirming children who is in gender distress in the classroom is psychologically damaging for them. I refuse to go against my conscience and cause a child harm … The TRA wanted me to capitulate and say that I was wrong. I have been mercilessly punished for refusing to do so.

The CLC described Sutcliffe as “a marked man” and quoted its deranged Chief Executive, Andrea Minichiello Williams, above, as saying:

This is a tipping point. The government needs to step in and restore some sanity into the teaching profession. Similar action needs to be taken regarding the Teaching Regulation Agency.

I am very concerned by the way regulatory bodies are now punishing Christian teachers simply for stating the truth.

The TRA has targeted an exceptional teacher because his Christian beliefs do not fall in line with the new LGBTQ moral code which will not tolerate any dissent. This is deeply illiberal.

For loving Jesus, speaking truth in his personal time, and responding to questions from students on the Christian faith, he has been hounded out of the teaching profession.

Joshua will appeal, and we will stand with him for as long as it takes to get justice.

Another resounding defeat for Old Leather Face and her unblemished record of failure.

I don’t see the angry atheist recommending that anyone who criticises Islam should be prevented from teaching, or anyone who uses pronouns different from what a child asks for should be prevented from teaching.

  3. Such a tragedy that one of our greatest assets, the CLC, may one day run out of funds!

    1. Per Rational Wiki: “The revenue source for the Christian Legal Centre is unclear, though connections exist with a well-funded United States organisation, the Alliance Defense Fund. The ADF and the CLC jointly set up the Wilberforce Academy in the UK aimed at training Christians for leadership roles in public life. There are suggestions it is an organisation with very little income, with almost all legal actions pursued by lawyers acting pro bono (without charging a fee). However, for a while they paid barrister Paul Diamond a retainer of £8000 per month, so they must have had money at some point—it’s all very mysterious: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Christian_Legal_Centre
