IRIDIPHOBIA is a fear of rainbows, but that’s just one of a number of mental health issues suffered by Mark Jennings, who claims to have Autism Spectrum Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
So, when Jennings, who lives in Scotland, visited a Natwest branch in Herne Bay, Kent, in August this year, he went into full-on panic mode when he saw some material which promoted Pride.
He claimed that the stuff he saw ran contrary to his religious beliefs and that he had a “phobia” of Pride-related paraphernalia, which exacerbated his diagnosed mental health conditions.

Jennings informed the bank of the adverse effect this material had on his mental health but it refused to remove the material. He further claimed that he had been unable to make further visits to the branch without suffering severe psychological distress, resulting in increased social isolation and poor mental health.
So Jenning took the matter further by claiming £35,000 in mental health damages — a claim that was dismissed by a Sheriff Principal found that no relevant basis for a claim had been made.
He appealed the dismissal, but again lost when the sheriff at Edinburgh Sheriff Court dismissed the action as raising no relevant or sufficiently specific claim in law.
Sheriff Ross found that, more than two months after raising appeal proceedings, the appellant sought to substantially modify his appeal to include more detailed descriptions of how he was affected by visual stimuli.
Jennings is an idiot. His embrace of Catholicism proves my point.
