Ohio preacher with a criminal record arrested for abusing two children

DOMINIC J. Foor, above, convicted of drug offences, robbery and burglary over a period of 20 years, wound up as leading pastor at Pathway Apostolic Church on the south side of Columbus.

But, following his recent arrest, the 39-year-old he is no longer preaching. He was sacked after a Pickaway County grand jury indicted him on two dozen felony charges alleging that he abused the children who were 15 and 12 years old.

The grand jury indicted Foor on 11 counts of sexual battery, six counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and six counts of importuning.

Foor posted a $250,000 bond and is out of jail with conditions that he has no contact with the alleged victims and must stay in the state.

ABC 6’s Tom Bosco spoke on the phone on Wednesday with the church’s founder and lead pastor, John Palmer. He told Bosco that when he learned of the allegations, the church voted Foor out of his position.

Foor is married to Palmer’s daughter, who filed for divorce back in April, accusing him of neglect of duty and extreme cruelty.

Court records show that he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs in 2010; to robbery, drug, and weapons charges in 2005; to burglary in 2003.

Whoever says religion and morality go hand in glove are utterly deluded.

    It seems to me that religion and its churches, especially in the USA, has such a record that it is an irresistible attraction for crooks, pedophiles and a variety of criminals. How can it not? There is an almost daily publication of wealthy pastors whose wealth is shown to be from conning their congregations.

    They need no qualifications except an expertise in emotionally laden religious crap. Their example is Elmer Gantry brilliantly played by Burt Lancaster. Exploiting their role as they expertly peddle their religious bullshit offers easy access to pedophile activity and ready defence if accused.

      Re: the attraction of becoming a priest/pastor for anyone who has a same-sex attraction. I have a private pet theory for the UK in past centuries. The second sons of landed gentry were expected to go into the priesthood and, along with others who knew they weren’t cis-het, they might have felt this was the only possible option. In obeying god and becoming a priest or monk, god would honour, and take away that attraction. Their mental anguish must have been a hundred times worse when that didn’t happen a gay priest had to battle his desires for a lifetime with no possibility of expressing them – or of course, getting found out doing that and being shunned, prosecuted and punished by the law for any homosexual liaison.

    Mental abuse of children is the norm for all religions, it should be vigorously prosecuted.

      Agreed Broga, however, we are not in the middle-ages when mental abuse of all was so intense that the Roman Catholic Sleaze Corporation knew that their authority, by fear and lies, would be eroded if the abused could read the book of fairy stories in their own language: That is the situation today in the islamic paradise of Pakistan, their bloody story book is written in the Arabic language, it can be read and learnt by Pakistanis because their native language Urdu uses Arabic letters; however, only a tiny, tiny few (including amongst the educated living in the modern day capital, islamisbad) can understand Arabic and this leads to the vast majority being fed the vile stories of ill-educated imams and teachers in madrassas.

    The BBC allows, and I suppose pays, preachers to make some weird claims on Sundays. This morning on the sermon, which I soon switched off, there was reference to “the Holy Ghost” I come across this from time to time.

    Anybody know what that refers to? Is it in the bible? I would like to know as the preachers and their congregations seem to accept it so readily. Its reality seems to be in no doubt.

    I know very well that the CofE has a horrible history of allowing abusive priests to continue, and their crimes covered up by their superiors – here’s looking at you, Welby! I was staying with my vicar relative at Easter when she was responsible for organising a ‘Family Fun Day’ in a cathedral. I saw her information sheet for volunteer helpers. Prominently on page one, it said if any lost child came to them during the day, having got separated from their adult, take them to Reception. BUT, “not before grabbing another adult to accompany you – any adult will do, visitor, volunteer, clergy person, but definitely don’t go alone with the child”……that spoke volumes to me, the CofE desperately needing to show their transparency in this matter and I suppose I should be grateful for that…..but nah, wish the whole corrupt organisation could just disappear!

    The energy and time invested in failing to sustain the phony organization must be enormous. Even as the words come out they are clearly phony – or lies. Imagine you, as an atheist were saying them and not cloaked in the rituals and the embarassing garb, how would you feel?

    Thank you for taking the time to write to me on this incredibly serious subject. I am grateful to you for sharing your views with me, and entirely respect your position even if we do not agree on this matter.

    I voted against the Bill earlier in the legislative process, and will continue to do so. The fundamental reason for this is my concern that the Bill’s passage would devalue life, and in doing so would pose an existential risk to the most vulnerable in our society, while hindering ongoing efforts to both improve palliative care and develop lifesaving medicines.

    Alongside these principled objections, I have practical concerns regarding the ability of our healthcare and judicial systems – even in the best of circumstances – to guarantee that no death would result from misdiagnosis, coercion, or any other form of error or injustice. The concerns have not been assuaged by the replacement of High Court scrutiny with a three person panel.

    What ‘devalues’ life is the agony of a terminal illness (despite palliative care) and the inhuman indignity as experienced by my father for over six months, he was denied the dignity of an assisted death surrounded by his loved ones. 

    Please stop inflicting the Roman Catholic Sleaze Corporation’s dogmatic definition of human life (that causes so much misery and poverty in countries inflicted with the RCSC virus) on our 21st century country of science and reason, where over 50% of the population and over 90% of age 18 to 24 year-olds have consigned religion to the dustbin of historical lies.

    There is nothing more persuasive for assisted dying than to witness a long, painful, terminal illness in one of your loved ones, who, in desperation may make botched suicide attempts, all because you decided that assisted dying was only for pets.
