Spanish Archbishop accused of covering up the systematic abuse of a teenage boy

COMPLAINTS by a teenage boy that he had been forced to perform fellatio on a seminary priest, and that he had also been groped and raped, fell of deaf ears among church officials. Instead the incumbent Archbishop Francisco Cerro, above, gave the accused priest, Rodríguez Ramos, roles in the archdiocese until 2021.

From 2010 until June 2015, according to this report, Fr Pedro Rodríguez Ramos maintained his position at the Toledo minor seminary, and was therefore in regular contact with minors, even though diocesan leadership had already been informed of his abusive nature.

Finally, in 2024, a civil court found priest guilty of abusing of “Carlos”, a pseudonym, in a civil court but acquitted him on appeal due to an error in the initial investigation. The guilty verdict was upheld by the prosecutor’s office of the Supreme Court.

Catholic news outlet, The Tablet, reports today that Carlos claimed the archdiocese finally sent the details of the allegation to Rome 12 years after his initial allegation. And it only did so because his case was was publicised in the Spanish daily El País.

Said Carlos:

This demonstrates that had my case not come out in the press it would never have reached Rome. It also shows the great work the press does to help victims. Francis has always told me I have his complete support for going to the press and continuing to fight for justice.

Carlos added:

In all this time, only three priests and Pope Francis have kept their word and tried to get justice on my behalf until the end of the process. And even so, Francis himself is encountering obstacles.

In 2023, Spain’s ABC gave details of the abuse suffered by Carlos at the hands of the priest, who told him that was he was doing to the boy from the time he was 12 “was not a sin.”

The abuse to place at spiritual retreats at a residence for nuns in La Bañeza, in the province of León. There the boy’s genitals were groped and the priest directed the minor’s head towards his penis and put it in his mouth, forcing him to perform fellatio.

When the boy expressed his displeasure, “the accused told him that he wasn’t sinful and he shouldn’t tell anyone.” The abuse continued until 2007.

The Tablet also reports today that in Madrid, Fr Manuel González López-Corps has gone on trial for the sexual abuse on church premises of a younger man, now also a priest, over a period of 15 years between 2000.

Last year Spanish bishops protested against the government “obsession” with church abuse.

    As is usual with the Roman Catholic Sleaze Corporation, the media and government are exaggerating the abuse by their sex-starved priests, after all, by their own admission, it is ONLY 5% that are perverts; i.e., there are ONLY 22,000 kiddie-fiddlers!
