AMERICA’S Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF) is well-known for billboards such as the one above, much to the chagrin of The Catholic League’s head honcho Bill Donohue, who conjured up a billboard of his own to counter a Yuletide one erected by the FFRF.

In announcing this week that the League had unveiled a Christ-centred billboard at the Wisconsin state Capitol, Donohue described the FFRF as “Christian-hating atheists,” and declared:

We have decided to send these activists a lesson, reminding them that the Christmas season is our season. We rule. They lose.

The knobhead, who said the FFRF billboard was “silly”, told The Christian Post:

We decided to display the billboard as a direct refutation of the annual Winter Solstice display in Madison, Wisconsin, that is erected in the Capitol building by Freedom From Religion Foundation. Their stunt is done to compete with, and therefore neuter, the meaning of the Nativity scene at Christmas.

Donohue told CP that he hopes “our billboard emboldens Catholics, letting them know that we will not be bullied by our adversaries.”

FFRF briefly responded to the Catholic League’s billboard’, above, on their X account, tweeting that the “scrooges at the Catholic League really know how to spread love and joy during the holiday season.”

“Happy holidays!” the FFRF added.

Someone ought to put a copy of R J Stovold’s excellent book, Did Christians Steal Christmas? in his Yuletide stocking —along with a packet of condoms.

  1. Religious preachers and indoctrinators have something going for them that makes their task so much easier. I’m referring to the ignorance, closed minds and automatic bigotry of their largely non book reading followers. This occurred to me a couple of days ago when I began reading “The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs” by Steve Brusatte. Science Book of the Year: The Times and much acclaim generally.

As I read this highly readable, deeply researched book covering an age from 250 million years ago I was reminded of the biblical explanation of the existence of humans – Adam and Eve created by God 8,000 years ago (I think) – and so much other nonsense about humans.

The dinosaur age lasted 150 million years and was ruled by amazing animals who left the planet with the air and water still pure. Humans have evolved over 300 thousand years and have wrecked the planet, slaughtered each other, rendered insects in danger of extinction and regard themselves as chosen by God to be superior to all other creatures. Including, of course, the lengthy torturers of a 10 year old girl. And the current bishops alleged to have protected paedophiles.

The usual drivel will be poured over those who choose to listen by the BBC to excess this Xmas.
