REPUBLICAN Southern Baptist Dodie Horton, above, suffered a defeat back in 2022 when she tried to introduce to the state a version of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” Bill, which prohibits “classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels.”

Her bill would have made it illegal for schools to incorporate “classroom instruction or discussion relative to sexual orientation or gender identity” in kindergarten through eight-grade classes.

Teachers and school employees would have been prohibited from discussing “personal sexual orientation or gender identity” with students in grades K-12th grade.

The god-addled bigot is now hoping that another of her hare-brained ideas—displays of the Ten Commandments in all of Louisana’s centres of learning—will fare better.

According to this report, the ignoramus thinks the commandments have nothing to do with Christianity. Or religion in general.

This is not preaching a Christian religion. It’s not preaching any religion. It’s teaching a moral code.

For the record, according to Britannica:

TheTen Commandments is list of religious precepts that, according to various passages in Exodus and Deuteronomy, were divinely revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai and were engraved on two tablets of stone. The Commandments are recorded virtually identically in Exodus 20:2–17 and Deuteronomy 5:6–21.

Last year, she sponsored another law that requires all schools to display the national motto “In God We Trust″ in public classrooms.

Her proposed commandments legislation received final approval from the state’s GOP-dominated Legislature last week and is headed to the desk of Republican Governot Jeff Landry.

It mandates that a poster-sized display of the Ten Commandments in “large, easily readable font” be required in all public classrooms, from kindergarten to state-funded universities.

Democratic state Senator Royce Duplessis argued that while supporters of the legislation say the intent of the bill is for historical significance, it does not give the state “constitutional cover” and has serious problems.

The lawmaker questioned why the Legislature was focusing on the display of the Ten Commandments, saying there are many more “documents that are historical in nature.”

I was raised Catholic and I still am a practicing Catholic, but I didn’t have to learn the Ten Commandments in school,” Duplessis said on Tuesday. “It is why we have church. If you want your kids to learn about the Ten Commandments take them to church.
