MICHAEL Cassidy, inset above, a “Christian conservative” who destroyed a statue of Baphomet at a altar set up by the Satanic Temple at Ohio’s Capitol last December, has been charged with third-degree criminal mischief, effectively a hate crime in the state.
The 36-year-old nutjob from Mississippi described his vandalism as an act of “Christian civil disobedience.”
Cassidy was an unsuccessful Republican candidate for Mississippi’s state House of Representatives.
His campaign biography describes him as a former Navy pilot and “a Christian conservative who loves our nation.”
Mortimer Adramelech of the Satanic Temple of Iowa, said at the time of the crime that the display was there for the festive season.
The Iowa Department of Administrative Services said the group met the application requirements for the display
Adramelech said:
All religions have equal rights in the public forum under the First Amendment of the Constitution. As Americans we have every right to be here just like anyone else.
A designated religion

Although The Satanic Temple has been awarded the status of a religion by the Internal US Revenue Service, in 2016 Mat Staver, above, Liberty Counsel’s Founder and Chairman, described it as a “an atheist group.”
The so-called Satanic Temple group is a handful of atheists masquerading as so-called Satanists.
A crowdfunder has been set up to raise cash for the imbecile’s legal costs. It quotes Connolly as saying:
I saw this blasphemous statue and was outraged. My conscience is held captive to the word of God, not to bureaucratic decree. And so I acted.
As of today (Thursday), almost $120,000 has been raised.
