HOW many queers hate Catholics?

Catholic League President Bill Donohue, inset above, posed this question after it was announced that the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, would after all, perform at a Los Angeles Dodgers game on June 16.

He answered his own question:

It’s hard to say, but it is clear beyond a shadow of a doubt that many gays and trans persons in the Los Angeles area do.

Just in the LA area? Get real Donohue. The Catholic Church is universally held in contempt by LGBT+ communities for its homophobia and transphobia, and by millions of others for is centuries-long history of paedophilia.

Anyway, it’s not the adherents of the faith that people hate. It’s more a question of loving Catholics but loathing the Roman Catholic Church.

In his rant against the Sisters, who will be handed a Community Hero Award from the Dodgers for their charity work and activism, Donohue, who once unsuccessfully challenged their tax exempt status, branded them as “sick” and said the Dodgers:

Put their official stamp of approval on anti-Catholicism. The animus against Catholics is alive and well.

He added:

Local government officials also hate Catholics. Rep. Robert Garcia, a Democrat, said the [initial] decision to disinvite the ‘Sisters’ was ‘shameful’ and done to ‘divide and separate our community.’

Rep. Jimmy Gomez, a Democrat, said he strongly supports them. Ashleigh Aitken, a Democrat, the mayor of Anaheim, is another big fan. The ACLU of Southern California, a proverbial hater of Catholics, also sided with the ‘Sisters.’

In a separate post, Donohue detailed the “anti-Catholic” antics of the Sisters, starting from their formation in 1979. These include:

• An “exorcism” and a “Condom Savior Mass” staged in 1987 when John Paul II visited to San Francisco. At the event, they featured “the Latex Host” and referred to Jesus as “the Condom Savior.” They also burned the Pope in effigy.

• At a rally in 1992 in Sacramento at the Capital Christian Center, the Sisters held signs of the Cross with a pink inverted triangle in the place of Jesus; the inscription read, “Stop Crucifying Queers.”

• In 1994 they served “holy communion wafers and tequila” to the congregation at a mock Mass.

Donohue then insisted that:

The Catholic Church accepts homosexuals as children of God, but it also says that homosexual inclinations are ‘objectively disordered’ and that homosexual acts are ‘intrinsically disordered.’ The ‘Sisters’ are living proof of just how disordered these men are.

According to Wiki, the Sisters have grown throughout the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, and South America.

They are currently organised as an international network of orders, which are mostly non-profit charity organisations that raise money for AIDS, LGBT-related causes, and mainstream community service organisations, while promoting safer sex and educating others about the harmful effects of drug use and other “high risk behaviours.”

Two orders are based in the UK: One in Manchester and the other in Edinburgh.

He never seems to have much to say about the thousands of paedophile priests that the RCC harbours…

    1. He does, actually. He keeps alleging that they’e not technically “paedophiles”, due to the age of those they prey upon; a lot of the sex is consensual; the actual percentage of RC priests involved is very, very tiny indeed, and so on. He’s priceless.
