CONVINCED that constant prayer would lead to the resurrection of dead South African pastor Siva Moodley, above, his family refused to have him buried or cremated.
But after his corpse languished in a funeral home for almost 600 days the pissed off proprietors were compelled to seek a court’s permission to dispose of the body.
Moodley, 53, who founded The Miracle Centre in the north of Johannesburg, died on August 15, 2021.
According to court documents seen by News24, the funeral home made 28 attempts to contact Moodley’s wife Jessie and children for instructions but received no response.
The funeral home explained to the family that it would face environmental health and hazard implications if the body was not disposed of.

The court papers further state that Moodley’s wife, above, allegedly told the undertaker she had a vision that he could be resurrected.
A video posted to YouTube last October said that Martin du Toit, the manager at the funeral home, confirmed that Moodley’s body was still at his mortuary
After Pastor Moodley’s death, his family and members of the church used to visit the funeral home to pray for his resurrection. The last visit was in September last year Nobody has come to view the body since then. There is no news about his funeral.
He said he had lodged an application with the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court to grant him permission to have Moodley buried or cremated.
He was a well-known man and does not deserve this kind of treatment. I hope the court can provide some relief.
Moodley had an international following and had a television programme called “Your Miracle Moment”.
According to his website, Moodley is described as an apostle, author, international speaker, and radio and TV personality It is also claimed that Moodley made those who were blind see and restored hearing to some who were hearing impaired.
Pastor Prem Terry Jugdeo, who followed Pastor Moodley’s ministry, said the family needed to be transparent.
His family and church members have not respected the death of a great person but believed in the resurrection of this servant of God. His wife and children continue as normal. They need to be honest and not hide away from the facts.
Congregation members, who declined to be named, also wanted answers.
Pastor Moodley was a righteous person He helped so many people but his legacy is being tarnished. Whenever we ask where he is, we never get an answer Initially, we were told he is coming back soon but a year has gone by and nothing.
Moodley was finally buried in at Westpark Cemetery in Johannesburg last month. His wife and two adult children did not attend the funeral.
Writing for Harere, Tim E Ndoro said:
While the story of Pastor Moodley’s delayed burial and failed resurrection may be shocking, it serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of blind faith and the importance of taking proper legal and practical steps when dealing with the death of a loved one.
According to the “miracles” section of Moodley’s website:
It is normal to see radical healings like blind eyes and deaf ears opening, legs growing, cancers/tumours disappearing in this ministry.
The website further claims that in 2003, Caid Bailey became the first person raised from the dead at Moodley’s meetings.
In 2013, a baby who died before birth was also “raised to life in a miracle service after Dr Siva prayed for the mother in a coma”.
“Supernatural weight loss” also occurred at The Miracle Centre in Randburg, where “kilograms instantly fell off people.”
Jesus stunt that went wrong

Sakara, a pastor at the Zion Church in the Zambian town of Chidiza, convinced his congregation that he could come back from the dead and resurrect on the third day,
He didn’t.
Members of the church performed a series of “spiritual exercises” to resurrect their prophet, to no avail.
