SO great was the outrage following the Synod vote to bless same-sex unions earlier this month that the Archbishop of Canterbury has offered to relinquish his role as leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Kaziimba refused to to participate in the Lambeth Conference held last year, along with Anglican leaders from Nigeria, Uganda and Rwanda,
He is quoted here as saying:
The message from the Church of England today is saying go and sin some more. They are even offering to bless that sin. Brethren, that is wrong, that is wrong, that is wrong. We know where we are going. We know what we believe. There is no hope that we can walk together with the Church of England.

At around the same time Nigeria’s Archbishop Henry C Ndukuba, above, tore into Welby, and the church’s “secular synods.”
The souls of the faithful departed members of the Church who built and promoted the Christian faith throughout the world, sponsored missionaries, built churches and cathedrals, enthroned Christian civilization, and encouraged Christian families, education, and civil society would be grieved at the recent actions of the current leadership of the Church of England, especially the Archbishop of Canterbury and the bad decisions of the Church’s secular synods.
Sadly, the Church of England and the Archbishop of Canterbury have joined the widening rebellion against God and the Church of Jesus Christ; a move that must be challenged, resisted and reversed by the rest of the faithful Church.
Churches fast heading to extinction in the UK
The American Conservative yesterday weighed in on the issue, and wondered why the C of E was giving “obsessional attention” to the issue of same-sex unions at a time when it is declining so fast that is on track to go extinct by 2060.
It will be dead within a generation or two. And so will the Catholic Church in England.
It linked to The Tablet which last June reported that data modeller John Hayward, a mathematician at the University of South Wales in Pontypridd, predicted that the C of E and the Catholic Church will only survive until the second half of the century.
According to his model, both the Church of Wales and the Church of Scotland could be extinct within the next 30 years. He projects the Catholic Church and the Church of England to die out sometime between 2060 and 2070.
In a follow-up report, Hayward points to what he calls “progressive ideology” as a potential cause of this decline, using support for same sex marriage as an indication of whether a church holds these values.
The future of the progressive denominations is bleak. Despite the enthusiasm of leaders for the new ideology, they face division and despondency in the church and a faster decline.
Social media reaction
When Anglican Mainstream posted news on Facebook that “the Archbishop of Canterbury will surrender his authority as first among equals among the primates of the Anglican Communion in light of the General Synod of the Church of England’s adoption of gay blessings,” reaction was swift and brutal.
One commenter said:
Without Scriptural reasoning Welby is simply destroying the Church of England, piece by piece, no different to the last 3 Archbishops.
Another wrote:
Job done for Welby, he has been destroying the Church of England since he came to power. His reckoning will be with The Almighty.
A third raised the issue of women priests:
Female priests were a terrible idea. If you are Christian and a woman then having children and raising a family with a proper home is what you want, not Priesthood, which is power and responsibility a man’s calling and a Feminist desire.
A fourth wrote:
Welby and the ‘progressives’ are destroying the Church of England. They are turning their backs on Christ and twisting scripture to fit decadence, degeneracy and depravity.
