A GREAT deal of creativity was shown by those who entered a Pumpkin Palooza contest organised by Tega Bay city in South Carolina. Not so much, though, by an entrant who submitted the one featured, inset above.
So when it won first prize after people voted for the best of fifty entries, all hell broke loose on social media, according to The Friendly Atheist. Here are just two of many:

In publicising the contest, the city said the winner would be chosen by popular vote, so it’s pretty obvious that Christians piled in to vote for a pumpkin featuring an instrument of torture, thereby turning the event into a mini culture war.
