‘Gods Chosen People’ in S. Africa are not the victims of genocide, as Trump claims

THE deranged US President hates many things, foremost among them having his many lies exposed. This happened most recently when he falsely claimed that there was a concerted effort by the South African government to wipe out the country’s Afrikaner population, Calvinists who used the Bible to justify Apartheid.

Lies like this have consequences. The US Episcopal Church, headed by Presiding Bishop Sean W. Rowe, above, announced earlier this month that it is terminating its partnership with the Trump administration’s programme to resettle Afrikaners, who for decades regarded themselves as “God’s Chosen People”, because they does not believe that there is any evidence of them being persecuted.

This move prompted a swift response from White House spokesperson Anna Kelly. She said the Episcopal Church’s decision “raises serious questions about its supposed commitment to humanitarian aid,” and argued that “Afrikaners have faced unspeakable horrors” and are “no less deserving of refugee resettlement than the hundreds of thousands of others who were allowed into the United States during the past Administration.”

And Vice-President JD Vance, a religious jackass, called the move “crazy.”

But in a letter the leader of Anglican churches in South Africa the Most Rev Thabo Makgoba thanked the American head of the Episcopal Church for refusing to resettle Afrikaners in the United States who have been deemed refugees by President Donald Trump’s administration, arguing the government’s justification for taking in members of the group is inaccurate.

Makgoba said:

What the administration refers to as anti-white racial discrimination is nothing of the kind. Our government implements affirmative action on the lines of that in the United States, designed not to discriminate against whites but to overcome the historic disadvantages Black South Africans have suffered.

Makgoba argued white South Africans “remain the beneficiaries of Apartheid” by “every measure of economic and social privilege,” noting that, despite the end of the Apartheid regime, South Africa’s society remains deeply unequal.

He added:

We cannot agree that South Africans who have lost the privileges they enjoyed under Apartheid should qualify for refugee status ahead of people fleeing war and persecution from countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan and Afghanistan.

Rowe had explained the decision was rooted in moral opposition to being asked to resettle white Afrikaners, especially as the US. refugee programme has been mostly shut down since Trump took office in January.

Meanwhile, a plane carrying 59 Afrikaners landed at an airport just outside Washington DC earlier this month, in a ceremonious greeting that included the US’s deputy Secretary of State.

One of the many thousands of refugees who had been conditionally approved to enter the US, but who now wait in limbo due to the refugee pause, said:

It’s not fair. There are 120,000 refugees who went through the whole process, the vetting, the security, the medical screenings. We’ve waited for years, but now these (Afrikaners) are just processed in like three months.

On May 22, Trump confronted South African President Cyril Ramaphosa with a video that showed rows of white crosses stretching off into the distance along a rural road. The piggy-eyed, orange ignoramus claimed:

These are burial sites right here. Burial sites. Over a thousand of white farmers.

However, the crosses do not mark graves. The video is from a protest against the murder of white farming couple Glen and Vida Rafferty, who were ambushed and shot dead on their premises in 2020. They have long since been taken down.

The Transvaal Agricultural Union (TAU), which represents farmers, compiles figures which offer an insight into the racial identity of the victims. The TAU relies on media reports, social media posts and reports from their members.

Their figures for last year show there were 23 white people killed in farm attacks, and nine black people. So far this year TAU has recorded three white people and four black people killed on South African farms.

‘God’s Chosen People’ always seems to highlight the low criteria expected by the Almighty.

    1. Most of the well-off Afrikaners I met about 25 years ago were already planning to go to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK; not one told me they were heading for the US.
