AMERICAN ACTOR and film producer Mel Gibson is not someone you would want over for tea and biscuits—unless, of course, you happen to share his odious homophobic, antisemitic and racist views, inherited from his Holocaust-denying father, a traditionalist Catholic bigot called Hutton Gibson.

Gibson is now in the news for expressing his support for recently excommunicated Carlo Maria Viganò, inset above, an ultra-conservative Catholic who has been bad-mouthing Francis for years. Viganò served as the Vatican’s top diplomat to Washington D.C. from 2011 to 2016, and is a vocal supporter of a Trump.

This week Gibson wrote an open letter to Viganò, saying, among other things:

I know that you know he has no authority whatsoever—so I’m not sure how this will effect you going forward, I hope you will continue to say mass & receive the sacraments yourself—it really is a badge of honor to be shunned by the false, post conciliar church.

Viganò’s homophobia has been reported upon for years by gay media in particular, and his excommunication prompted LGBTQNation to remind readers of his hateful agenda over the years

Reporter Greg Own pointed out that Viganò has called Francis a “false prophet” and a “servant of Satan”. He espoused conspiracy theories centered on the COVID-19 pandemic, the “deep state”, and an “orchestrated media narrative” targeting the 45th President.

The disgraced priest’s activist agenda focused on Francis’ LGBTQ+ outreach and his own toxic views on homosexuality.

In 2020, Viganò accused Francis of heresy and corruption, blaming a “gay lobby” and gay priests for their “widespread” influence on the pontiff.

In 2022, the archbishop accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of promoting “LGBTQ ideology.” He wrote:

Zelensky’s performances in drag are perfectly consistent with the LGBTQ ideology that is considered by its European sponsors as an indispensable requirement of the ‘reform’ agenda that every country ought to embrace, along with gender equality, abortion, and the green economy.

The Vatican finally had enough of this lunatic’s ravings, and said in a press release:

His public statements manifesting his refusal to recognize and submit to the Supreme Pontiff, his rejection of communion with the members of the Church subject to him, and of the legitimacy and magisterial authority of the Second Vatican Council are well known.

The Catholic governing body confirmed that Vigano was found guilty and excommunicated, citing more than a dozen instances in which Viganò had criticized or repudiated Francis or challenged the reforms of the Second Vatican Council.

With excommunication, Viganò keeps his title, but won’t be allowed to celebrate Mass, receive or administer sacraments, or hold official positions within the church’s hierarchy.

In a lengthy statement last month, Viganò called it “an honour” to be accused, and attacked the Church under Francis’ leadership for being “inclusive, immigrationist, eco-sustainable, and gay-friendly.”

Viganò’s biggest public clash with the Pope came in 2018 when he accused Francis of complicity in the sexual misconduct case of U.S. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick. Viganò said the pontiff was covering for McCarrick and called on him to resign.

  2. The RCs have had over 1,600 years to convince us that their brand of bullshit truth is the ‘real deal’, I was just about to join them and now I find that they haven’t even convinced their own – perhaps the Religion of Peace is the one for me.
